David Owen Dowell

Mr. David Owen Dowell, Sr., age 72, of Mt. Washington, returned to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, February 8, 2023. Mr. Dowell was born in Hardinsburg, KY on April 7, 1950 to the late Sam and Helen Dowell. He was a devoted member of Gospel of Jesus Christ Church, Louisville KY.

In addition to his parents, his loving wife, Debra Dowell and siblings, Joe Dowell, Sonny Dowell, Jimmy Dowell, Rugene Brooks, and Lea Bruce preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his sons, David Dowell Jr. (Christina) and Chris Dowell (Olivia); grandchildren, Davy, Luke, Sam and Ben; sisters, Alice Williams, Carolyn Atchley, Patty Suhr, and a host of other dear family and friends.

David adored his four grandchildren.  He loved his family and friends dearly.  He enjoyed playing the guitar.  Most importantly David loved the Lord! 

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday, February 16, 2023 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery. Friends and family may pay their respects on Wednesday from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of his service at noon at the funeral home.
