David was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on May 28, 1957, to the late William “Nat” and Evelyn Sue Pitt. In addition to his parents, his brother-in-law, Dewey (Buddy) Putt and Mary Ann’s son, Calvin Wade Young preceded him in death.
He was a devoted member of the Middletown Seventh-day Adventist Church along with his wife, Mary Ann of 20 years. David has a music ministry for over 50 years and won several awards for his songwriting gift, but most of all, he won many hearts to the Lord with every Christian song he sang and with his quiet, soft-spoken spirit.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Mary Ann Mayhugh Pitt; his son, Aaron Michael Pitt (Kelsey Garrett); grandsons, Jacob Sawyer, Noah Wilder and Levi Walker; Mary Ann’s daughter, Bridget Lee (Young) Baker along with her grandchildren, Alysa Paige, Ethan Lee and Chloe Leann Baker; siblings, William Steven Pitt (Adrian), Elizabeth Lynne Davenport, Nancy Anne Putt, Natalie Ruth Sparp (Terris), Susan Faye Chapman (Kurt) with honorable mention, Howie Gano; a host of nieces and nephews and his church family at Middletown Seventh-day Adventist Church.
David’s memorial visitation will be held for two hours starting at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at Middletown Seventh-day Adventist Church (125 Watterson Trail, Louisville, Kentucky 40243). His service will follow at 4:00 pm at the church.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Louisville Hemophilia Foundation (1850 Taylor Ave., St.2, Louisville, KY).
David’s favorite scripture was 2 Corinthians 12:7-10. He shared it at many of his concerts.
“My grace is sufficient for thee, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) have been entrusted with services.
