Don was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on March 1, 1941, to the late Louis B. Beckmann Sr. and Virginia French Beckmann. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Don leaves to cherish his memory to his sons, Josh Beckmann (Fabie) and Terry Thomas; daughter, Stacy O’Brian (Devin); grandsons, Chris Thomas (Brittani), Darin O’Brian, Ian, Sebastian, and Luke Beckmann; and great-grandsons, Adam and Owen Thomas. He is also survived by his brother, Mike Beckmann (Patty), sister, Pat Gallagher (Fred), and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Irene; brother, Louis Beckmann; sister, Diane Prather; nephews, Paul Gallagher and Brad Beckmann; and great-grandson, Jack Thomas.
Don was a faithful member of Poplar Level Church of God for more than 50 years. He was also a member of the Masons. He retired from Town & Country Ford, where he spent many years of his working life.
Those who knew Don will remember his unwavering devotion to Irene, his quick wit, warm smile, and ability to make friends wherever he went. He especially enjoyed reminiscing about the past, talking about cars, and sharing stories and memories with family and friends. His kindness, sense of humor, and sincere love for those around him will be deeply missed.
Though Don has left this earthly life, his legacy lives through the family he loved so dearly and the many lives he touched. He is now reunited with those who went before him and resting peacefully in the presence of his Heavenly Father.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home, located on Preston Highway at Brooks Road.
Burial will follow at 3:00 PM at Brookland Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday, September 19, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 2:00 PM.
