Ms. Donna Faye Cecil, age 62, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, returned to her Heavenly Father on Thursday, July 23, 2026, with her family by her side. Donna was born on February 8, 1964, to the late Donald Hodges and Deloris (Price) Bieckert. She was a devoted and caring Nurse for over 20 plus years, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. If you knew our mom Donna, you knew what it meant to be truly selfless. She was the kind of person who would do anything for the people she loved, always putting her family before herself without a second thought. She loved deeply, cared endlessly, and found her greatest happiness in simply being there for the people she loved. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. They weren't just her greatest joy; they were her reason for keeping going. Through every difficult day, they gave her strength, motivation, and determination to keep fighting. Every laugh, every hug, every visit, and every "I love you Nonna" reminded her why she wasn't ready to give up. The love Donna gave so freely will live on in her children, her grandchildren, and everyone who was lucky enough to know her. She leaves behind a family who will miss her every day and carry her love with them for the rest of their lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers David and Tim Hodges.
She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter Melissa Macklin (Shawn), sons John Cecil, Jr. (Madison), Justin Cecil, former husband and friend John Cecil, Sr., stepdaughter Amanda Maum (Jessie), 8 grandchildren Deshawn Macklin, Lucas Macklin, Trey Cecil, Jayden Cecil, Jeremy Cecil, Jaxon Maum, Bentley Maum, Annsley Maum, sister Debbie Hodges, Paul Bieckert, step-mother Anna Hodges, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other dear family and friends.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Highway at John Harper Freeway). A Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in the chapel at the funeral home. Visitation will be that morning from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12 noon.
