With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was surrounded by his loving family as he entered the gates of Heaven. A man of extraordinary character, strength, unyielding work ethic, and a role model for many generations. He leaves behind a legacy as complex as he was.
He was a devoted husband, to his wife, Bessie P’Pool of 66 years; a proud father of four daughters, Debbie P’Pool, Cindy P’Pool, Tina (Glenn) Freeman and Regina (Brent) Glass; a grandfather to Rodger “Pee Wee” (Whitney) Glass, Anthony Dockery, Josh Glass, Kristina (Herman) Detweiler and Alec Midgett; great grandfather to Alenna Glass, Peyton DeGrella, Macy and Gracy Dockery, Stetson Detweiler, Kaysen Glass, Ellie Detweiler, Benson Detweiler, Karsen Glass, Charleson Detweiler, and Lyndie Detweiler.
Buck is survived by his sister Rachel Francis and many nieces, nephews, other family members, and lifelong friends. He is preceded in death by his father Doris Rippy and his mother Myrtle Ray P’Pool Rippy; brothers William “Bill” P’Pool, Darl “Joe” P’Pool and sister Alice Blankenship.
Buck moved from Hopkinsville, KY to Shepherdsville at the age of 17 to begin his career at Asplundh Tree Expert Company. He established Crystal Creek Farm in 1989 where he raised black angus cattle and many acres of tobacco. He retired from Asplundh after 48 years at the age of 65. After retiring he continued his love for farming while teaching generations to come. He has been a resident of the Nichols Community for 67 years where he was a mentor to many in the area, teaching them the values of hard work and the value of a dollar.
Visitation will be held at Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks, 4895 N. Preston Highway, Shepherdsville, on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and again on Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will take place at Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks, 4895 N. Preston Highway, Shepherdsville, on October 23, 2026, at 12:00 noon with burial to follow at Mt. Eden Cemetery, 6165 Hwy 44 W, Shepherdsville.
