
Mr. Eddie A. Abernathy, age 74, of Louisville, returned to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 14, 2022. Eddie was born in Asheville, NC on October 24, 1947, to the late Ivey Lee Abernathy and Virgie Ann (Honeycutt). Eddie was a member and Deacon at Jefferson Hill, an electrical mechanic technician at Naval Ordnance for over 30 plus years. Eddie served in the U.S. Army, he loved woodworking, he enjoyed a good prank or joke, he always had a smile and never met a stranger, he loved to sing for the Lord, he loved his church family, and most of all he loved his wife Norma and their family dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four sisters; Doris Case, Mary Suttles, Mildred Harris, and Margaret Huntsinger; and three brothers, Harold, Jack, and Gerald Abernathy.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 50 years, Norma Abernathy, his daughter, Michelle Adams (Terry), two grandsons, Connor Adams (Kylie), Christopher Adams (Peyton), brother-in-law Wayne Sizemore (Jan), along with a host of nieces, nephews and other dear family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at (Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home) at the corner of Preston and John Harper Hwy. Visitation will be held Tuesday June 21, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will take place following at Resthaven Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at Audubon Hospital’s I.C.U. Unit for the kindness and care they showed to their family.
