Ellis was a wonderful man that was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. “Papa” as he liked to be called by his grandchildren, “Eli” as he was called by fellow railroaders, was an amazing husband, dad, grandpa, and friend. Ellis Andrew Morrison Sr. was born December 3, 1946 in Perry County in Eastern Kentucky. He grew up in Blacky, KY.
Ellis proudly served in the Marine Corp during the Vietnam War (1966-1970), receiving many accommodations and achievements while serving, include ranking up to Sergeant (E-5), receiving three purple hearts, and his greatest accomplishment meeting his wife Barbara Morrison. Ellis dedicated 40 years of service to L&N CSX Railroad, working as a switchman from 1969-2009.
Ellis married Barbara Morrison on August 27, 1968 and spent 52 wonderful years together. They raised two amazing children, Cheri Lynn Pfeister (Cliff) and Ellis Andrew Morrison Jr. (Angel). You could always find Ellis in a pair of blue jeans wearing a baseball cap, clapping his hands at his grandchildrens’ sporting events or attending antique car shows or auctions. He enjoyed being around family and friends, searching for collectibles at flea markets, listening to bluegrass music, and playing corn hole. He was a proud member of Little Flock Baptist Church of Shepherdsville, Ky.
Ellis returned home to his Heavenly Father on April 23, 2020. Loved ones that are reunited with Ellis include his mother, Nora Morrison (Hamilton), his father, Ellsworth Morrison, his sister, Evelyn Wilson, his stepmother, Eunice Morrison, and his grandson, Ryan Key.
Loved ones that will miss Ellis include his wife, Barbara Morrison, son, Andrew Morrison Jr. (Angel), daughter, Cheri Pfeister (Cliff), sister, Molly Jo Morrison, his loving grandchildren, Savannah and Shelby Morrison, Peighton, Camden, and Kendal Pfeister, and great grandchild, Mila Key.
And so, the story goes on until we see our “Eli”, “Papa”, “Ellis”, and “Dad” again.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Alice Lloyd College in Ellis’ name. Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. All services will be private due to COVID-19.
