Florence Long Russell

With great pain in our hearts, our precious mother, Florence (Long) Russell of Okolona passed away at her home on December 24, 2015.Born in her beloved mountains of Harlan County Kentucky on November 16,1926, she was a beautiful gift from God to Jerusha and George W. Long. She was a wife, homemaker, and Nursing Caregiver. Among those who preceded her in death are her husband, Donald Russell; granddaughter, Myra Georgette and parents. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Patricia, Sharon (James), Marcella (Bill), Panda (Douglas), Gloria (Carlie), Donald Jr. (Karin), Victor (Joni) and Mark (Donna); 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren; dear sister Revia (Sissie); youngest brother, Don (Mary) and a host of other family and friends. With great love and deep devotion she is the thread that knit her family together. She is the light in the eyes of her children. As a believer in the Pentecostal Faith, we find comfort in knowing mother is greeted by our Heavenly Father and her family members who have gone before her. Until we are united with her in Heaven, mother will be deeply missed. Her home going will be celebrated 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 in the chapel at Schoppenhorst Preston Highway and will be laid to rest in Mt. Washington Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday and noon on Wednesday at Schoppenhorst. Special messages and condolences may be left online at www.subfuneralhome.com.
