Garland "Gene" Gore

Mr. Garland “Gene” Gore, age 89, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023, with his family by his side. Gene was born in Hardin County, KY to James Gore and Mary (Jones) Gore, on September 23, 1933. He worked for 37 years as a salesman at Bischoff Flooring Company, and 18 years at the Louisville Water Company, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. Gene loved Las Vegas, and he was a well-known prankster among family and friends. Above all else Gene loved his wife Barbara of 67 years, his children, and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be truly missed by all who knew him, he was a great guy and was always willing to help.

 He is preceded in death by his parents, and stepfather Clyde Sherred.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend Barbara (Van Metre) Gore, his daughter, Kathy Bischoff (Bruce), son, Perry Gore (Denise), grandchildren, Jennifer Coleman (Alex), Heather Kingsolver (Thad), Christopher Bischoff (Seira), and 8 great-grandchildren of whom he loved dearly. 

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd) at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m.
