Mr. Gary Lee Lay, age 64, of Shelbyville, entered eternal life on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Gary was born in Jellico, TN on January 28, 1962 to the late Donald and Ruth Lay. He was a Baptist by faith and retired from Ford Motor Company after more than 35 years of dedicated service.
Gary was a devoted husband, loving father and Papa. He cherished the time he spent with his family and found joy in the outdoors, especially fishing.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Cassandra Lay.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Cathy Hall Lay; son, Shaun Lay (Bonny); grandchildren, Destiny, Madelyn and Leanna; brother, Ronald Lay (Tammy); stepson, Chad Hall (Andrea); step granddaughter, Sadie; sisters-in-law, Judy, Mary and Lisa; his fur baby, Peaches and a host of other dear family and friends to cherish his memory.
Funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 20, 2026 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Hwy., Shepherdsville, KY) with cremation to follow. Friends and family may pay their respects on Thursday from 1:00 pm until the time of his service at 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
