Mr. Poynter was born February 13, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan and was a retiree of General Electric. He was a member of Parkland Baptist Church, the Okolona Masonic Lodge #853 and Zoneton Lion’s Club. Mr. Poynter was a Kentucky Colonel and enjoyed wood working and bowling with his church friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Loraine Jackson Poynter; son, Douglas Poynter and brother, Billy Wayne Poynter.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 60 years, Pat Poynter; children, Alan Poynter (Marissa) and Cindy Baumgardner (Greg); 8 grandchildren, Melissa, Hollie, Andrea, Gabby, Nick, Lindsey, Nate and Noah; 8 great grandchildren; sister in law, Priscilla Poynter and her children, Matt and Tracy, and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 12:00 pm in the chapel of Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home, Mt. Washington (Hwy 44 east at 123 Winning Colors Drive) with burial in Highland Memory Gardens. Friends may pay their respects on Sunday from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm and after 9:00 am on Monday until the time of service at the funeral home.
