May 19, 1966 – October 31, 2026
Gene Eldin McAdams II, 60, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
Gene was born on May 19, 1966, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Gene Eldin McAdams and Reva McAdams.
For more than 35 years, Gene dedicated his professional life to 84 Lumber Company. He began his career as a manager trainee and served in various positions throughout the years, eventually becoming a construction manager. His work took him across the country, where he oversaw construction projects and developed many lasting friendships along the way. Gene was known for his dedication, strong work ethic, and commitment to doing his job well.
Outside of work, Gene enjoyed woodworking, baseball, and spending time fishing with his brother, Wesley. He had a creative spirit and, after beginning cancer treatments more than two years ago, discovered a passion for painting. Inspired by Bob Ross, Gene began creating beautiful landscapes that he proudly shared with family and friends. His paintings became a meaningful expression of his creativity and a special gift to those who knew and loved him.
Gene was a member of The Believers Church in Louisville, Kentucky, where he found great joy in worshiping alongside his church family. His faith was an important part of his life, providing strength and encouragement throughout his journey.
Above all, Gene treasured his family and the relationships he built throughout his life. He will be remembered for the love he shared, the friendships he cultivated, and the many lives he touched.
Gene is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Traci McAdams; his two daughters, Marissa and Emily; his sisters, Jeanette McAdams and Rachel Hofelich; his brother, Wesley McAdams; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
A memorial service celebrating Gene’s life will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at The Believers Church in Louisville, Kentucky. Family and friends are invited to gather to remember Gene, celebrate his life, and give thanks for the love and memories he leaves behind.
Though Gene will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in the hope of eternal life through Jesus Christ and the promise that, for those who belong to Him, death is not the end.
The family has asked in lieu of flowers for donations to be made to The Believers Church in Gene’s honor.
