Grace Hanson

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ms. Grace Carol Hanson, former long-term resident of Hudson, Massachusetts, and Cocoa Florida, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at the age of 84. She was born on August 11, 1938 in Somerville, Massachusetts to parents Paul B. Markle and Grace Markle. Grace was a co-proprietor of Frank’s Cycle Service and a spirited motorcyclist. She was a pioneering female in the sport, and in 1969 she won the New England Championship in both scramble and enduro. She had a passion for adventure, frequently enjoying activities such as flying planes, swimming with dolphins, and scuba diving. On her 80th birthday, she went skydiving to celebrate.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband Frank Hanson, brother Paul Markle, and partner Mack Herron. She is survived by her sons John Hanson, Mark Hanson, and David Hanson (m. Margaret), as well as honorary sons Glen Scott and Kevin Clark. She also leaves behind grandchildren Michelle, Bryan, Jennifer, Christopher, and honorary grandson Jeremy, as well as numerous other beloved family members and friends.

A funeral service to honor Grace’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 6:00 pm in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.). The service will be followed by cremation. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00 pm until the start of the service at 6:00 pm. Grace's vibrant energy and tenacious spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
