Herbert Allen

Mr. Herbert Allen age 70, of Shepherdsville, KY returned to his Heavenly Father on December 9, 2018. He was born on August 5, 1948, in Larue County, to the late William Walter and Annie Marie (Underwood) Allen. He served during the Viet Nam war as a Marine. He was loved by many and enjoyed the beach, Churchill Downs, chocolate, a family party, and was a big U of K Fan.

He is preceded in death by a child, Andy Miles, brothers, James Allen, Charles Allen, Bobby Allen; and sister, Linda Allen.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 45 years, Margaret Allen; children, Nina Pike (David), Patty Purvis (Mike), Bonnie Craig (Mike), Joe Bill Miles, Terry “Tuggy” Miles (Becky); grandchildren, Joy, Missy, Amy, Heather, Charlie, Chad, Drew, and Logan; 19 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Cooper, Pat Morgan (Larry); brothers, Walter Allen (Linda), Jimmy “Sam” Allen (Annette) Tommy Allen (Wilma), Mark “Birddog” Allen; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (John Harper at Preston Hwy.) with cremation to follow and inurnment in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Friends may pay their respects on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 2:00 pm till 8:00 pm and on Saturday from 10:00 am till time of service in the chapel.
