James Robert Atherton

James Robert Atherton, Jr., 55, of Okolona returned to his Heavenly Father surrounded by his loving family, Monday, April 24, 2017. Mr. Atherton was born September 1, 1961 in Louisville to the late James Robert Atherton Sr. and Jane Ann Atherton, and was a Heating and Air Installer for commercial units for Hettinger and Shuck Heating and Air. Mr. Atherton loved his "fully dressed" 2006 Heritage Soft Tail Classic, and his very special red and white 1993 Ford F150 truck. He was a jokester with a wonderful sense of humor, and an avid U of K fan. Mr. Atherton first and foremost loved his family and his toy poodle Daisy, dearly, however his second love was cars. He loved cars; working on them, restoring them, and driving them. Mr. Atherton had a good heart; he never met a stranger and he touched many lives. James Robert Atherton, Jr. was loved by everyone who had the privilege to know him. James will be greatly missed.

Mr. Atherton leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Shelia Atherton; his son, Jeff Hall (Amy); his sisters, Deborah Goodgine (John Sr.), Hope Dewitt, and Michelle Dewitt (Terry); several nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 29, 2017 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd.) with burial in Brookland Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday and Friday, and from 12:00 pm until time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
