Mr. James Odell Fisher, age 69, of Okolona, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Louisville, KY, on April 5, 1957, he was the son of the late Tressie Black. James was a dedicated mason, a simple and hardworking man, and a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
James was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved his dogs and could often be found feeding the birds. He also loved a good debate and had a way of getting people riled up just for the fun of it. His personality, sense of humor, and ability to make people laugh will be remembered by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Catherine Ann Fisher; son, Jesse Fisher; brother, Roger Fisher; and grandparents, Robert and Ada McCutchan.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Jennifer Hagan (Michael); grandchildren, Emily and Cameron; brother, Tony Fisher (Sissy); sister-in-law and close friend, Jamie Ward; and a host of other family members and friends.
James will be deeply missed by everyone who loved him. His memory will live on through the stories, laughter, and countless moments shared with the people who were fortunate enough to call him family and friend.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.), with graveside service and burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery.
