James Matthew Gerkin's

Mr. James Matthew Gerkins, age 65, of Fairdale, Ky returned to his Heavenly Father on Friday, September 12, 2025, with his family by his side. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on September 25, 1959, to the late Mack Gerkins and Juanita (Norris) Gerkins.  James was a self-employed Mechanic and Fabricator for over 50 years for Gerkins Company. He enjoyed working on dump trucks and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a loving and devoted husband, dad, and Papaw.  James will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Charles and Michael Gerkins.   

He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Ann Gerkins, son Mack Gerkin's (Lindsay), stepdaughter Angela Fuchs, two grandchildren Ali Gerkins and Waylon Gerkins, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other dear family and friends.

A Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. (Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home) 4895 N. Preston Highway Shepherdsville, Ky 40165. The visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon. The burial will be held after the funeral service at Hebron Cemetery.
