James "Jim" Robert Short

Mr. James “Jim” Robert Short, age 87, of Shepherdsville, Ky passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, with his family by his side. Jim was born in Holmes Mill, Kentucky, on August 29, 1938, to the late Homer Short and Dessie (Harris) Short. He was a proud veteran who served in the United States Army, retired from Old Fitzgerald Distilleries after 37 years of service. Jim enjoyed driving around in his Blue Mustang, watching University of Kentucky Wildcats play ball, he enjoyed going to Shepherdsville Country Music Show on Hwy 44, along with his Hobby of Horse racing. He was a dedicated husband, father, and Papaw. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, and late wife Myrna Short, daughter Lynda Stout. 

He is survived by his Significant other Yvonne “Sandy” Lucas, (who he referred to as Sweetie) daughter Leisa Goodwin (Dwight), daughter Lori Tomazin (Roger), 2 bonus children Carolyn Hefty (Daniel), Jay Hutchason (Sabine), 4 grandchildren Lauren Wells (Joey), Steven Wells (Paige), William Stout (Kim), Matthew Stout (Sam), 6 bonus grandchildren David Wheeler (Leslie), Cara Jenkins (Gregory), Krista, Cass, Diana, Drew, and 4 great-grandchildren with one on the way, brother Jack Short (Joy), sister Viola Wynn, son-in-law Bill Stout.  Along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other dear family and friends.

A Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Hwy, at John Harper Freeway). The visitation will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
