James Lane

James “Jim” David Lane, age 84, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, returned to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, May 24, 2026, with his family by his side. Jim was born in Bradshaw, West Virginia, to the late Earl David Lane and Rosina (Bowyer) Lane. He retired after 30 years of service as a maintenance man for the Marley Cooling Tower Company. Jim was a loving and devoted husband, dad, and grandpa. He enjoyed working outside and especially working with his hands, designing projects in his workshop and planting his vegetable garden. He was a Avid University of Kentucky Fan, he liked watching them play both football and basketball. Jim also enjoyed watching pro football. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son James Lane II, daughter Janet Lane, son David Lane, brother Jerry Lane, sisters Mary Lou Dugger, and Sharon Barton.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 63 years Josephine “Josie” Lane, daughter Robin Lane (Kim), grandchild Sarah Lane, brother Bill Lane, along with a host of nieces and nephews, and other dear family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 2:00-7:00 p.m. at (Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home, 4895 N. Preston Highway at John Harper Freeway.) A Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, in Alva Memorial Gardens, (Black Star) 6177 Highway 72 Pathfork, Kentucky 40863.
