In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Kathryn Johnson, and Martha Davis.
He was a Baptist by faith and a member of Highview Baptist Church. Donald proudly served in the Army and Kentucky National Guard. He was a General Electric retiree where he worked as a paymaster. In his spare time, he enjoyed competition shooting, fishing, woodworking and being outdoors.
He is survived by his sons, Darren Powell (Lisa), and Damon Powell (Justin); his grandchildren, Bethany Powell-Sutton, Madilyn Hemberger, and Daniel Powell; his great- granddaughter, Gwynevere Hemberger; his sister, Carolyn Bannon along with a host of extended family and friends.
In keeping with Donald’s wishes the family has chosen cremation with no services and has entrusted Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral with his care.
