Janice Kay "Jan" Mitchell

Janice Kay “Jan” Mitchell, age 76, of Louisville, Kentucky returned to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, August 23, 2025. She was born on July 19, 1949, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Virgil and Dorothy (Katzman) Martin. Jan was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church. She was very proud to be a Deacon’s wife. She loved U of L Sports, Elvis Presley and watching her Westerns and “The Golden Girls”. In her spare time, she enjoyed her coloring books. Her family will always remember her German Potato Salad. Her true passion was her family; she never missed a practice or sports event where her grandchildren were concerned. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Jim Jackson.

Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 51 years, Deacon Ken Mitchell; son, Kenny Joe Mitchell (Thia); daughter, Stephanie Williamson (John); grandchildren, Micheal Mitchell (Mallory), Racheal Mitchell, Aiden Mitchell and Matthew Mitchell; great-granddaughter on the way, Maddie Rose; sister, Linda Jackson and a host of other cousins, family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 11:00 at St. Luke Catholic Church (4211 Jim Hawkins Drive, Louisville, Ky 40229) with cremation to follow. Friends and family may pay their respects on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 1:00 until 8:00 at Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd).
