Mrs. Jean Loretta Gentry, age 84, of Shepherdsville, entered eternal life on Sunday, August 9, 2026. Mrs. Gentry was born in Glasgow, KY on August 8, 1942 to the late Clarence Green and Emma Lorraine Doty Green. She was a member of Little Flock Baptist Church and retired from General Electric. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She leaves a legacy of love, faith and kindness. Those who knew and loved Jean will miss her very much but take comfort knowing that she is at peace in her Heavenly Home.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Loyd E. Gentry and her siblings, Marie Swift, James Green, Carl Green, Marshall (Tom) Green, Forester (Buddy) Green, Nell Hawks, Ada Hatfield, Jerry Green and MarlinAnn Green preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, David Gentry (Polly); grandchildren, Dalton Gentry, Jennifer Lovewell (Nathan) and Krystle Veach (Allen); great-grandchildren, Beau, Rhett, Haddie and Collins; brother, Bryant Green (Brenda); dear friend, Preston Bell and a host of other dear family.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 17, 2026 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery. Friends and family may pay their respects on Sunday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and on Monday from 12:00 pm until the time of her service at 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
