

Mr. Jerry L. Evans, age 88, of Mt. Washington, Ky returned to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 28, 2026, with his family by his side. Jerry was born on May 25, 1938, to the late Leslie and Emma Davis Evans. He was a multi-talented instrumentalist, singer and song writer. He worked for 15 years at Zenith Radio and Television Co., later relocated to Louisville and became a proud member of the U.A.W. and Ford Motor Co. He chose in 1967 to follow Jesus, later was a deacon at Corinth Baptist Church in Chicago and later Itasca Baptist Church. In 1977 he joined with Bruce Allen and the lates Carlisle and Ron Smith, Ed King and spouses to create Castle Road Baptist Church in Valley Station, known as Providence Baptist Church today, where he remained a member until he passed. He was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel by the late Gov. Wendell Ford. He was the king of bad dad jokes, and for 68 of his 88 years on earth he served as patriarch of our small, but close-knit clan. He shall truly be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Vivian Smith.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Trula Partin Evans; daughter, Kathy Amos (Corky); son, Leslie Evans; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and two on the way; three loyal nephews and other dear family and friends.
A Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 12 p.m. at Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Hwy, at John Harper Freeway). The visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial to follow at Bethany Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hosparus of Louisville.
