

Mr. John Theodore Crume “Jack” age 81, of Louisville, Kentucky, returned to his Heavenly Father Sunday, November 16, 2025. Mr. Crume was born on January 9th, 1944, in Louisville, Kentucky. Jack was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Jack enjoyed spending his time at Rough River with his “lake” family. He was a proud member of the United States Army for six years and served in Vietnam from 1968-1969. He was a member of the 2/138 Artillery National Guard unit. He owned Convenient #9 in the Highland Park area for 20 years. From there, he built Jack’s Home Improvements, which he owned until he retired a decade ago.
He was a graduate of PRP High School, where he was a member of the very first graduating class. Jack loved traveling. He made many trips to the beach, along with several other places around the United States. Jack had a huge personality and was loved by everyone; his life slogan was always “It Is What It Is.” He will truly be missed by all who knew him.
Among those who preceded him in death are his parents, Joseph Crume Sr. and Margaret “Escher” Crume; and siblings, Joseph Crume Jr., Michael Crume and Janice Simmons. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 35 and a half years, Monica Crume; son, Stephen Crume (Bridget); sister, Joann Baughman; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to his doctor, William Haney along with the staff at Signature East and Baptist East Hospital. The family would also like to recognize the private caregivers that helped him over the past year.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, November 22, 2025, in the chapel of Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (4895 North Preston Highway, Shepherdsville, Kentucky.) with burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects on Friday from 2:00pm until 8:00pm and on Saturday from 9:00am until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Parkinson's Foundation along with St. Jude Children’s Hospital in honor of Jack Crume.
