

Mr. Johnny Denver Jody, age 85, of Louisville, was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. Mr. Jody was born in Everts, KY on May 4, 1940, to the late Charlie Jody and Edna Williams Jody.
Johnny was a man of great faith and attended Okolona Christian Church. He proudly served in the United States Army before dedicating many years of his life to public service as a police officer with the Louisville Metro Police Department. His commitment to his community continued over the last 5 years as he volunteered with Johnny’s Wagon, he especially loved getting supplies for and assembling gifts baskets.
In addition to his parents, his beloved wife, Linda Lee Rose Jody; his son-in-law, Tom VanArsdale and his siblings, Vicky Jody, Susie Jody, Sam Jody, Gary Jody and Sandra Helton preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Sherrie Craft (Denver “Denny”) and Kay VanArsdale; grandchildren, Ethan Craft (Maci), Channing Craft, Schelee Burkett (Bo), Kimber-lee Abel (Joe), Kristine Johnson (Josh); 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Charles Jody, Byron Jody, Chris Jody and Dan Jody and a host of other dear family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm on Sunday, January 18, 2026 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with cremation to follow. Friends and family may pay their respects on Sunday from 12:00 pm until the time of his service at 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
The time and date for Johnny’s inurnment with his dear wife at Highland Memory Gardens will be announced soon.
