Mr. Joseph Riggs, Sr., age 89, of Okolona, Kentucky returned to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. He was born in Loretto, Kentucky on August 17, 1937 to the late Charles Thurman and Mary Mildred Riggs. Mr. Riggs, Sr., is preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Mary Riggs; sisters, Kathleen Beckmann, Mary Grace Ballard; and brother, Leon Riggs.
If you knew Dean then you knew he was a hardworking, loyal man with integrity. Even though he had few words to say, you learned the lessons he taught you. He had an unwavering love for his family and friends. Dean enjoyed time on the lake and going bass fishing. He was a mechanical genius who could help anyone with their vehicle.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Joseph Riggs, Jr., Robert Riggs (Julie), and Stacy Riggs; grandchildren, Joseph Riggs III, Chad Riggs (Sarah), and Stephanie Brady (Brandon); great grandchildren, Raylee Riggs, Olivia Riggs, Jett Riggs, Ava Brady, Axel Brady, Everly and Boone Brady; siblings, Jerry Riggs, Martha Shook, Stanley Riggs, Herman Riggs; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at 9:30 am in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd) with burial at Highland Memory Gardens in Mt. Washington, Kentucky. Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, October 23, 2026 from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of service.
