Joyce Jean Flener-Mull, age 92, originally of Cromwell, KY passed away peacefully at her home in Louisville on Wednesday, August 26th, 2026. Mrs. Mull was born in Ohio County, Kentucky on March 12, 1934 to the late Clarence Flener and Cora Daugherty Flener.
She was retiree of Phillip Morris, after 29 years of hard work and dedication.
Dearly loved by all who knew her, Joyce enjoyed an abundance of hobbies, including hunting, fishing, shopping, gardening, traveling and teaching her Sunday school class each week at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. She dedicated her life to the Lord and taking care of her family. She was well known for her bright and positive outlook in spite of hard times and loss.
In addition to her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her late husband, James E. Thomas; daughters, Teresa Nees, Rita Howard, and Shelia Seeley; son, Edward “Eddie” Dean Morris; her infant son, David Wayne Smith; grandson, Jeremiah Cardwell; great-granddaughter, Geneva Cardwell and siblings, Thelma Farris, Kathleen “Kitty” Shields and Clarence Flener, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Pastor Harrison “Sonny” Mull; her grandchildren, Jason Cardwell (Billy Fox), Mark Howard, Raymond Matthew Nees, Rachel Nees, and a host of other family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, September 4, 2026 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with burial to follow at Hebron Cemetery. Friends and family may pay their respects on Thursday, September 3rd from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Friday from 12:00 pm until the time of her service at 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
