Mr. Kenneth Earl Oakes, Jr., age 71, of Brooks, Kentucky returned to his Heavenly Father on Friday, March 11, 2022. He was born on December 22, 1950 in Jefferson County to the late Kenneth Earl Oakes, Sr. and Edna Ruth (Tolle) Oakes. Kenny retired from General Electric as an appliance technician. He was a Lutheran by faith. Kenny is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lana (Newman) Oakes; and stepdaughter, Marie Kaelin-Johnston.
He leaves to cherish his memory his brothers, Larry Oakes (Faith), Stanley Oakes (Shirley), Ronald Oakes; sister, Charlene Johnson (Larry); stepsons, Frank Kaelin, Rob Kaelin (Beth); grandchildren, Katie Kaelin (Chris), Dakotah Kaelin, Robby Johnston, Ava Kaelin; 2 great grandchildren, Elijah Kaelin, Serin Kaelin; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at 12:00pm Noon in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd) with burial to follow in Mt. Eden Cemetery. Family and friends can pay their respects on Monday, March 21, 2022 from 2:00pm until 8:00pm and again on Tuesday from 10:00am until the time of service at Noon.
