Kenneth Lynn Skaggs, age 70, of Magnolia, KY, returned to his Heavenly Father on Monday, May 4, 2026. Mr. Skaggs was born in Louisville, KY on February 25, 1956. He was a hardworking man who spent much of his life as a mechanic and truck driver, and he put just as much effort into working his farm. If you wanted to find him, that’s usually where he was—out working, taking care of his animals, and always happy to visit if you didn’t mind lending a hand.
He served in the United States Army and lived by his Christian faith. He was truly a salt-of-the-earth kind of person—down to earth, never materialistic, and someone who appreciated the simple things in life.
He had a great sense of humor and loved a good dad joke or pulling a prank, always finding ways to make people laugh. He enjoyed listening to Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, especially while driving and singing karaoke with his belated wife.
He loved hunting, cared deeply for his animals, and took pride in looking after them. More than anything, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and being with his family. He worked hard to take care of them and taught them the importance of hard work, having fun, and always looking out for each other.
His beloved wife, Deborah Skaggs; his mother, Beulah Mae Wilkerson; grandparents, Lewis and Rose Duvall, Dana and Garland Skaggs and his stepmother, Betty Ann Skaggs preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Shannon Breitenfeld (Michael), Melinda Larimore (Owen), LeAnne Ross (Christopher), Jennifer Evridge (Steven), Coral McLean, Jade Goeing (Andrew) and Logan McLean (Lyndsee); grandchildren, Dustin (Cathrine), Samantha, Krista (William), Joseph (Chassidy), Courtney, Gary (Alycia), Bryan and Cameron; great-grandchildren, Adan, Piper, Kendall, Parker, Scarlett, Anduin and Cayden; father, Kendall Skaggs, Sr.; siblings, Karen Deakins, Michael Smith, Charlie Skaggs, Jr., Timothy Skaggs, Tony Skaggs, Michael “Mookie” Wix, Missy Howell and Stacy Rone; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and other dear family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with burial to follow at Kenneth Skaggs Memorial Cemetery (1639 Bales Rd., Magnolia, KY) Friends and family may pay their respects on Monday, May 11 from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Tuesday from 9:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 pm at the funeral home.
