Larry W. Brewer, Sr.

Larry Wendell Brewer, Sr. age 81, of Leitchfield, Kentucky, returned to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 21, 2026. Larry was born in Louisville, Kentucky to the late William Beckham “Beck” Brewer and Christine “DeSpain” Brewer.

He retired after 30 years from Shulthise Trenching and Excavating as a Backhoe Operator. He was a loving and devoted husband, dad, and pappy.

Larry loved to find old barns, bridges, and beautiful things in nature to photograph, it gave him much joy. He loved, loved, loved Hummingbirds, and thrift store shopping for old cameras. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, children Billy Joe Morgan, Larry Wendell Brewer, Jr., Rebecca J. Burks, and granddaughters, Sarah Klausing, Kayla Burks, brothers William Beckham Brewer, Jr., Dean Stead, George Edward “Ed” Brewer, Harlan Jackson “Jackie” Brewer, Bernard Ray “Bernie” Brewer.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 60 years Dorothy Louise Brewer, daughter Michelle R. Brewer Carter, sons Roger Burks, Edward Burks (Linda), granddaughter raised as a daughter Ashley Gillenwater (Eric), grandchildren Misti Decker, Kristen Lewis, Andrew Buckles, Chancy Burks, Brandon Brewer, Erika Brewer, Courtney Smith, Derrick Brewer, 14 great-grandchildren, brother Donald Brewer, nieces, and other dear family and friends.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon. (Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home 4895 N. Preston Highway). A Funeral service will be held Thursday May 28, 2026, at 12 O’clock in the chapel. Cremation will follow.
