Louis "Sonny/LD" Dean Exley

   Louis Dean “Sonny/LD” Exley, age 85 of Mt. Washington, returned to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. He was born on September 21, 1937, to the late Louis Exley and Kjeston (Martin) Dezarn in Louisville Kentucky. Mr. Exley retired from Gamble Brothers after 27 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and could be found at McDonald’s or Dairy Queen in Mt. Washington where he spent time with friends over breakfast.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn (Puckett) Exley and brother, Dewey Exley.

    He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Sandra Exley; grandchildren, Aaron Exley, Autumn Claxton, Gabriella Claxton, Michael Ray Morris and Darren Claxton; great-grandson, Waylon Exley; sister, Frances Riggs; stepchildren, Peggy Minton (Danny), David Morris, Michael Morris, Rhonda Shuffitt, Renee Watts and Regina Bohn (Erik); step-granddaughter, Ellie Jo and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

   Graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 1 pm at Louisville Memorial Gardens West (4400 Dixie Hwy. Louisville). Friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 from 1 pm until 8 pm at Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Hwy. in Shepherdsville).
