Born on March 25, 1947, in Louisville, Kentucky, Margaret was the daughter of the late David Vaughn, Sr. and Lillie Workman Shields. She was a member of Davidson Memorial United Methodist Church.
Margaret enjoyed cooking, reading, had an appreciation for fine fashion, and a special love for eclectic jewelry. She also had a deep affection for dogs and cherished every opportunity to spend time with her family and friends.
Above all, she was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. Her warmth, kindness, and presence brought joy to her entire family.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Jimmie Laytham, Jr. and Marcus Laytham (Melissa); grandchildren, Blake Laytham (Rachel) and Bailey Bradley (Levi); great- grandchildren, Easton Bradley and Carter-Jo Bradley; siblings, David Vaughn, Jr. (Deanna) and Rudy Shields (Jackie); cousin, Judy Burton; many nieces, nephews and a host of other dear family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, October 9, 2026 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Hwy., Shepherdsville) with cremation to follow. Friends and family may pay their respects from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 8th and on Friday from 9:00 am until the time of her service at 10:00 am at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society.
