Mark A. Hufford, age 70, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky left this earthly realm on Monday, August 3, 2026. Bound in the promises of Christ, he knew no fear. He fought bravely and constantly, believing that whatever happened was meant to be, either way. His humor, strength, and kindness remained throughout his days. Mark was born on January 19, 1956, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Glorita (McHugh) and Charles Hufford, Sr. Mark was an avid U of K Basketball fan. He loved being outdoors enjoying nature, especially spending time at Bernheim Forest. His beloved German Shepherd, Aggie, was one of the highlights of Mark’s life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Hufford, Sr.
Mark is survived by his wife and best friend of 27 years, Ruth; his sisters, Cherly Hagan, Kathy Hufford, and Paula Kuhl; his nephews, Charles III, Justin, Jason, and Michael Hufford; Matthew, Daniel, and Eric Kuhl; sister-in-law, Diane Hufford, and of course, his most-loved four-footed joy, Aggie.
A special thanks goes to Ruth’s sister, Debbie Posey, whose patience and constant companionship helped make Mark’s final days bearable for Ruth. Sharing love and memories with Mark gave them time to cry, time to laugh, and moments that helped lessen the sting of what was to come.
Special thanks also go to Ruth’s niece, who ran interference back home, tending to Miss Aggie, who was bewildered and anxious over the absence of Mark and her Ruthie.
Funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 7:00 pm in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy.at Brooks Rd.) with cremation to follow. Friends and family may pay their respects on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 1:00 until the time of service at the funeral home. Inurnment in Brookland Cemetery will take place at a later date.
