Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Danny Cresswell, with whom she shared a daughter, Angela Bischoff; her parents, Frank and Alvina Starkey; her brothers, Bobby and Johnny Starkey; and her sister, Betty Paul.
Martha was a devoted member of Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish for over 40 years. During that time, she faithfully served her community by teaching religion classes to countless children and adults, helping organize picnics, and sharing her beautiful voice in the choir.
In addition to her volunteer work, Martha dedicated many years to education. She was an employee of Jefferson County Public Schools, where she worked at Lassiter Middle School for over 14 years before retiring. Even after retirement, Martha continued to give back by substitute teaching in Bullitt and Jefferson Counties and worked at Wesley Manor Nursing Home before finally retiring for good.
Martha was truly one of a kind—something everyone who knew her would agree upon. She was always full of love, never met a stranger, and made everyone feel welcome. She found joy in crafts, cherished her dogs, loved to travel, and above all else, treasured her family. Her greatest happiness came from time spent with her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren, as well as at family gatherings she so dearly loved.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Angela Bischoff (Sean); her granddaughters, Allie Bischoff, Brooke Bischoff (Jonah), and Kayla Bischoff; her grandson, Jaxon Bischoff; her sister, Barbara Feusner; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she adored.
Martha’s legacy of love, kindness, and service will live on in all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
