Mary Ellen Jones

Mrs. Mary Ellen Jones, age 85, of Louisville, Ky returned to her Heavenly Father on Friday, November 14, 2025, with her family by her side. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky on August 20, 1940, to the late Bartley Johnson Sr. and Lillian “McDonough” Johnson. Mary retired from Ames Department Store after many years of service as a retail clerk, she belonged to St. Lukes Catholic Church, she enjoyed playing bingo, pull tabs, and working her Seek & Find books. She liked watching movies with her husband and sitting on her front porch and chatting with her neighbors. She found great joy helping others and making sure they had food, and daily needs. Mary was a loving and kind person that thought the world of her 7 brothers, she was a loving and caring wife, mother, and Gran to her grandchildren, and Gigi to her great- grandchildren. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her late husband Norman Jones, Jr. brothers Bobby, Joe, Johnny, Larry, Mike and Georgie.

She is survived by her daughters Tina Tower (Barry), Kim Jones, grandchildren Scott Tower (Allison), Jason Tower, Jenny Warren (Josh), great-grandchildren Austin Tower, Hank Warren, Raelynn Tower, Harper Warren, Briar Tower, Bentley Tower, Jolee Tower, Braxton Rainey, Calliope Kitchens, brother Bartley Johnson Jr. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other dear family and friends.

A Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Hwy, at John Harper Freeway). The visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery.
