Mrs. Mary Katherine Tinsley (Higgins), age 74, passed away December 27, 2025, peacefully at home with her family by her side. Mary is survived by her husband of 55 years, James Tinsley; Daughter, Melissa Jessie (Chris); Son, Michael Tinsley (Kelli); Daughter, Mari Carolyn Kemper (Robert); Grandchildren, Luke Jessie (Bethany), Noah Jessie (Maddie), Zoe Smith (Colin), Hannah Burnes, Alec Kemper (Bailey), Zak Kemper (Emma), Kaleb Tinsley (Allie); Great Grandchildren, Audrey Jessie, Louis Jessie and two sweet angels she’ll be choosing for delivery this summer.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William Leo Higgins and Mary Elizabeth Higgins (Lesher); brothers, William Leo Higgins II (Pat) and Charles Daniel Higgins; Also by her dear Aunt, Carolyn Ann Lesher.
Mary was a devoted member of St. Luke Catholic Church. She loved Jimmy, and the family they built. Time with them was priceless. Watching the grands and most recently the greats always made her smile that beautiful smile.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 6th, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church (4211 Jim Hawkins Drive, Louisville, KY 40229). Visitation will be on Monday, January 5th, 2026, at Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery.
