Melvin Adams, Jr., age 85, of Shepherdsville, passed away Monday, September 21, 2026, at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Mr. Adams was born on February 12, 1941, to the late Melvin & Pearlie Adams, Sr. Melvin was a kind, helpful, and generous man. His greatest passions were going to church and going fishing. He married Maisie Whitaker on July 29, 1963. They were able to spend a glorious 55 years together before her passing in 2019. They were rarely apart. He was a member of the Antioch Church for 49 years. He was an ordained Deacon and faithfully made the unleavened bread at communion time after his wife’s passing. He was a retired employee of Jim Beam Distillery. Among those that preceded him in death are his parents; and brothers Dennis, Leon, Curt, Clyde, and Andrew. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Delilah Foreman (Dennis), of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, and Delphanie Keeble (David), of Springfield Tennessee, one brother-in-law Harvey Whitaker Sr., (Margarette) of Jeremiah Kentucky, three sisters-in-law, Janet Caudill (Bert), of Jeremiah, Kentucky, Maxine Blair (Bob), of Louisville, Kentucky, and Jeanette Whitaker (Aaron) of New Carlisle, Ohio, nine grandchildren, Christopher, Kristy, Jeremy, Stephen, Isabella, Nick, Breeanna, Austin, and Paige, 17 great-great-grandchildren and a host of other dear relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral Service will be conducted on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Antioch Old Regular Baptist Church (10817 Barrick's Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40229) with interment to follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Friends may pay their respects on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Hwy). Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Antioch Church.
