Melvin Wallace Mitchell, Jr.

Melvin “ Melvita” Wallace Mitchell, JR., age 76, of Louisville, Kentucky returned to his Heavenly Father on November 2, 2023. He was retired from Butternut and Bremmer Bakery in maintenance department, Army veteran, a member of Eagle’s Club, avid Fisherman and a Nascar fan. Melvin was born in Louisville, Kentucky on March 12, 1947, to the late Melvin W. Mitchell, SR., and Dorothy Cook Mitchell.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin leaves to cherish his memory his wife Frances of 53 years; children, Brittany Bedtelyon (Cecil), Melissa Mitchell and Jessica Mitchell; grandkids, Carmyn Parker(Darrell), Joshua McHargue, Kasey Dearinger(James), Christopher Mitchell, Paige Dearinger,James Cook Jr. (Breanna), Asa Robertson and Aiden Mitchell; 10 great grandchildren; siblings, Jimmy Mitchell (Joyce), Hazel Hodges, Billy Mitchell (Norma) and Steve Mitchell and special friends Joey and Penny Wimsatt, Mark Duff (fishing buddy), Hosparus nurse Elizabeth; care takers Bobbie and Megan;and a host of other family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, November 10, 2023, in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with burial in Brookland  Cemetery. Friends and Family may pay their respects on Thursday from 11 am until 8 pm and on Friday 10 am until time of service at the funeral home.
