

Mike was born on Saturday, February 19, 1949, to the late Joseph Benjamin and Theresa (Oventile) Hibbard in Moweaqua, Illinois. He grew up with two siblings James Gregory and Joseph B.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother James Gregory Hibbard.
He is survived by his loving wife Karen Hibbard; his sons Michael Jr. (Sonia), Daniel, Scott (Heather), David (Ashley) and Ben (Amy); step children, Kelly (Bonnie), Carrie (Todd), Michelle (Mark); grandchildren, Timothy, Abigail, Jacob, Jared, Lucas, Natalie, Joseph, Jayden, Kayla, Matt, Austin, Amanda, Emilee (Jacen), JJ, Audrey and Marek; 2 great grandchildren; his brother, Joe (Rosie) along with a host of family and friends.
Mike graduated from Moweaqua High School. He enlisted in the United States Army in October 1968 and spent most of his time in Korea and Germany. After an honorable discharge he spent most of his work life in logistics, owning his own company at one time.
He was a devoted father and loving husband. Always with a ready smile. Mike was quick witted and had a great sense of humor. He also enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family.
At the time of his passing Mike was completing his 4th term as a Shepherdsville City Council Member. He also served as the treasurer of the Bullitt County Republican Party, and active member of the Chamber of Commerce, served on various boards, a member of the American Legion Post 157. He was Chair and Co-Chair of the Buckman Street Beautification Committee. Mike was also an advocate of Mark12 Ministry and Grace Village.
Funeral services will be at 3 pm on Monday, July 6, 2026, in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Hwy) in Shepherdsville with Perry Cooke officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects from 11 am till the time of service at 3 pm.
The family has asked in lieu of flowers for donations to be made in Mike’s honor to Mark12 Ministries or Grace Village.
