Michael "Red" Lee Johnston

Michael “Red” Lee Johnston, age 47, of Brooks, KY returned to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, November 2, 2025, with his family by his side. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on April 21, 1978, to Lisa Reed and Larry Hoke. Red was a loving father, son, brother, and uncle. His family was the center of his universe. He graduated from Holy Cross High School, where he was an All-Star athlete in football. He was a member of the Local UAW 862 and worked for Ford Kentucky Truck Plant. Whether it was lending a helping hand, offering a listening ear, or simply showing up when it mattered most, Red never hesitated to put others first. He will be remembered for his generous spirit. His kindness knew no limits. He brought light, laughter, and warmth to every moment. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Bill Summit and Leo Hoke.

Left to cherish his memory are sons, William Johnston and Mason Morsey; his mom, Lisa Reed (Harold); his dad, Larry Hoke; his siblings, Robert Johnston Jr. (Stacy) and Jean Paul Johnston; his step-siblings, Kevin Reed and Jennifer Morris (Jessie); his grandmothers, Elaine Armstrong and Anna Rae Hoke; his nieces and nephews, Dakota, Bradley, Andrew, Victoria, Savannah, Jameson, Cane, and Bailey. 

Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway at Brooks Road) from 10:00 am until the time of the service. A Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 6:00 pm. Cremation was chosen. www.subfuneralhome.com
