Mitchell worked for 20 years at GE, a testament to his dedication and steadfast work ethic. He also embraced the days beyond work with genuine enthusiasm—enjoying life to the fullest, finding calm while fishing, and taking to the golf course with the focus and enjoyment of an avid golfer. A proud University of Kentucky fan, he followed his team with loyal spirit and lasting pride. Above all, Mitchell was a loving father, and that love stood at the center of who he was.
He is survived by his son Jack Giles; his parents, Gordon and Elaine Giles; a brother, Dwayne Giles (Patricia); niece, Tabitha Holt; nephew, Travis Giles; uncles Dwight and Curtis Corbin; aunts Sheila Moomaw, Shirley Lockhard, Linda Scott, Barbara Burton, and Jerry Giles along with a host of extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks, 4895 N. Preston Highway, Shepherdsville, Kentucky on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Burial will be held at Brookland Cemetery, 4897 N. Preston Highway, Shepherdsville, KY 40165, US, on July 21, 2026, at 3:00 pm.
