Nelson David Yates

Nelson “David” Yates, age 80 of Fairdale, returned to his Heavenly Father on March 26, 2025. Mr. Yates was born to the late Joseph and Mary (Nally) Yates. He was a proud veteran of the Army Rangers and retired from the United Postal Service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Kay Yates; siblings, Joe, J.B., Rita, Sandra, Sarah, Shirley and Lena.

He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, David Yates (Carmen) and Donald Yates (Teresa); daughters, Dianna Humphrey (Mark), Suzanne Weird (Hank), D’Lisa Pratt (Ron) and Terri Calvert (Carl); sister, Brenda Fitch (Clark); brother, Gerry Yates (Linda); grandchildren, Caden Yates, Derek Humphrey (Lena), Austin Weird (Lindsey), Isaac Humphrey (Shelby), Alyssa Yates (Allie), Kyrsten Lawrence (Garrett), Shelbie Riggle, Sierra Morales (Jonathan), Alex Humphrey (McKenzie), Jerry Simpson (Paige) and T.J. Yates; great-grandchild, Mackenzie, Avery, Hazel, Ivy, Rose, Alex, Beckett, Hudson and Hunter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 PM on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, in the Chapel of Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with interment in Rocky Hill Cemetery in Rocky Hill, Kentucky. Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday, March 31, 2025, from 1:00 until 8:00 and on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, from 10:00 until the time of service at the funeral home.
