Norma Jean Carr

Norma “Jean” Carr, age 87, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky returned to her Heavenly Father on Friday, October 17, 2025, with loving family by her side. She was born on November 16, 1937, in Bullitt County, Kentucky to the late Perry and Pearl Gooch. Jean was a member of Shepherdsville Christian Church DOC. She loved flowers and tending to her flower gardens. She also loved feeding and watching the birds in her yard, especially when she had a grandchild sitting in her lap to enjoy with her. Jean was a great cook; she loved having family and friends over to share meals with. Her family fondly remembers her Red Velvet cakes where she would make only for special occasions. She loved her church family as well, but her true passion was her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren; spending time with them and creating memories is what Jean held most dear to her heart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Mark Alvin Ridenour; 6 brothers and sisters and her life-long friends, Joanne DeMarsh and Dotty Miller.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of nearly 58 years, Larry Carr; children, Kathy Lynn Peek (Pete) and Dale Ridenour; grandchildren, Bradley Tipton (Laura), Joe Dale Ridenour (Christa), Kevin Ridenour (Chrystal) Stacy Colligan and Jeff Peek (Christy); 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Hazel Gooch; nieces, Joyce Hill (John) and Denise Allen (Tim) and a host of family and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 12:00 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with interment in Brookland Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 1:00 until 8:00 and on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 9:00 until the time of the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in honor of Jean are appreciated.
