Norman "Dean" Franklin

Dean was born March 29,1942 to the late Thomas Otis Franklin and Almedia Kathryn (O’Bryan) Franklin in Taylorsville, Kentucky. He was retired from the United States Postal Service as a postal clerk. Dean and his wife, Hilda, owned and operated Hillside Farm for over 50 years.  He was a member of Plum Creek Baptist Church, where he was a 3rd generation Deacon, Choir member and Sunday School teacher. 

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Thomas and Kathryn, brother, Thomas Franklin Jr.; sister-in-law, Judy Franklin and son-in-law, Robert Vest. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Hilda Marie (Winters) Franklin; children, Curtis Dean Franklin (Denise), Tina Marie Franklin Vest, and James “Jamie” Norman Franklin (Penny); grandchildren, Jacob Franklin (Amanda), Skylar Vest (Shelby), Noah Franklin (Elisa), Abby Haulk (Rusty) and Sarah Lewis (Dalton); great-granchild, Eli Franklin; sister, Ella Darlene Franklin Moore (Larry) and numerous extended family and friends. 

The celebration of his life will be at the Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home, 123 Winning Colors Dr., Mt. Washington, KY 40047 at 2:00pm on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, with a burial at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday from 1:00 pm –8:00pm, Monday 10am-8pm and Tuesday from 10:00am until the time of service.

Memorial donations in Dean’s honor may be made to Plum Creek Baptist Church, 31 Plum Creek Rd, Taylorsville, Kentucky 40071.
