Louise was born on September 21, 1951, in Bardstown, Kentucky, to Joseph and Nettie Downs. She was the youngest of three daughters. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved son, Jason Michael Hedden.
She is survived by her husband, Fred Roberts; her sons, Christopher (Liz) Hedden of Traverse City, Michigan, David (Paige) Hedden of Louisville, Kentucky, and Matthew (Stephanie) Hedden of Louisville, Kentucky; her daughter-in-law, Jamie Hedden of Louisville, Kentucky; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her loving sisters, Fran Unthank and Shelly Doyle; her sister-in-law, Holli Hedden; and brother-in-law, Michael Hedden.
Louise raised her family in Michigan before returning to Kentucky in 1991 to be closer to her sisters. She met and married Fred Roberts in 1994. Over the years, she held many jobs before ultimately retiring from Kentucky Farm Bureau in 2013.
Her sons and grandchildren were the loves of her life. Known to her grandchildren as “Granny,” she was dearly loved and cherished by each of them.
To know Louise was an honor and a privilege. She had a generous heart and a spunky spirit. She was an avid seamstress who was always working on a project, whether it was making teddy bears for her grandchildren, sewing biker patches, creating quilts, or making bears to be auctioned at Hillview Friends poker runs.
She also enjoyed crafting and painting ceramic pottery. Over the years, she lovingly created Christmas villages for each of her sons’ families. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she had decorations galore. Her sons inherited her love of Christmas, and their homes are filled with decorations she made, along with the personalized family ornaments she lovingly gave each year.
The Hillview Friends community was very important to both Louise and Fred. She treasured her friendships, including her lifelong friend Joyce Barnes, Sally Wheatley, Gina Smothers, the Bunco girls, and her newest friend, June. These women brought her great joy, and she loved each of them dearly.
Louise will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her family and friends.
We love you to the moon and back, Granny!
