Mrs. Patricia “Pat” Faye Selby, age 81, of Mt. Washington, Kentucky, returned to her Heavenly Father on Friday, October 30, 2026. She was born on December 19, 1944, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, to the late Hezekiah and Ruth Warren. Mrs. Selby was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, James Selby.
Pat loved her family and friends, cherishing every moment spent and every memory made with them. She was known for her playful sense of humor and fun-loving nature, as well as her kindness and generosity toward others, offering anything she had to care for anyone in need. She was a beautiful person, inside and out, and taught her family about both. She was a Christian by faith and was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church and the Widows Support Group at Southeast Christian Church Bullitt Campus. In all her words and actions, she was a woman of God. She took delight in reading her Bible and pondering the faithful love and mysteries of God.
Pat loved being outdoors, fishing, camping, gardening, canning, and, in her younger years, waterskiing. She found joy in crafting and scrapbooking at the Barren River Retreat, where she was twice crowned Best Scrapbook Page Princess and, alongside her group, the Scrappin’ Rappers, she secured the title of Pajama Talent Show Winner. Her favorite Saturday pastime was running errands with family after going out for lunch to any restaurant that someone else chose. She delighted in hosting her family and friends at her home, where everyone ate, talked, played games, and, most of all, where she connected deeply with each one. Pat will be fondly and fiercely missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughters, Dena Cheatham (Stuart) and Jill Grant (Mark); grandchildren, Steven, Paige, Austin, and Rachel; step-grandchildren, Channing and Shelby; great-grandchildren, Owen, Russell, Wren, Annie, Barrett, and Piper; along with step-great-grandchildren, Holliane, Cade, and Abel.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd), with burial to follow in Brookland Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday, November 5, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Friday, November 6, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
In Pat’s memory, expressions of sympathy can be made to VIPS (Vision Interventions and Parental Support; vips.org), where she was very passionate about her granddaughter’s work
A Committal Service will follow at Brookland Cemetery, 4897 N. Preston Highway, Shepherdsville, KY 40165, US, on November 6, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
