Paul Douglas Foster

Mr. Paul Douglas Foster, age 68, of Fern Creek returned to his Heavenly Father on August 8, 2025. Mr. Foster was born on June 17, 1957, in Jefferson County, KY to the late Gurdon and Dorothy (Lee) Foster. He retired from Louisville Metro Police Department and was a deputy sheriff with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Paul served with dedication and honor in the Louisville Metro Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, most notably working in the Hall of Justice where he became a trusted figure in the department and a familiar face to many. Known for his unwavering sense of duty, Paul was also renowned for his extraordinary sense of humor, which brought lightness and laughter to the often-tense environment of law enforcement. His colleagues will remember him not only for his exemplary work but for his ability to defuse even the toughest situations with a joke or a well-timed quip. Whether it was his witty remarks, Paul had a knack of making everyone feel at ease. Beyond his career, Paul was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend and a pillar of strength and kindness to those who knew him. His generosity, warmth, and infectious laugh left an indelible mark on the lives of his family, friends and those who had the privilege of working alongside him. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a Baptist by faith.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 46 years, Carol (Leffler) Foster; children, Jessica Blandford (Jeremy) and Douglas Foster; grandchildren, Caden, Matthew, and Anthony; siblings, Sandy Lampkin (Mike), Robert Foster, and Terry Dearmond; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2 pm on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway at Brooks Road) with interment in Brookland Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 10 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
