Becky was born on April 19, 1953, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Milton N. Skinner and Alma (Meyer) Skinner. She owned and operated Southside Pet Shop for 51 years, dedicating her life to serving her community and caring for animals. She was a devoted member of Cooper Memorial United Methodist Church and found great joy in the outdoors, especially spending time at her “happy place” on Barren River Lake.
A loving grandmother, Becky rarely missed her grandchildren’s events and was a constant source of love, encouragement, and support in their lives. In retirement, she enjoyed raising fish and proudly maintained 17 fish tanks in her basement. Becky will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; the love of her life, her husband, Richard N. Gent; and her grandson, Andrew Dennison.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted daughter, Julie Dennison (John); her beloved grandchildren, Sarah, Eli, and Ricky Dennison; her siblings, Debbie Skinner, Neal Skinner (Nanette), Kim Metzger (Jack), Gary Skinner (Kevie), and Gayle Blair (Tom); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the chapel on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home, 4895 N. Preston Highway at John Harper Freeway. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, Kentucky.
