Rita Rae Bradford

Rita Rae Bradford, age 86, of Louisville, Kentucky returned to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. She was born on March 6, 1939, and raised by loving parents, the late Albert and Etta Mae Dramstad. Rita was the oldest of 10 children and born on the plains of Glasgow, Montana. She graduated from Saco High School in 1957. Rita met Dick Bradford while working in a diner in Saco, Montana. While working on the railroad, Dick walked in Rita’s diner, ordered a piece of pie and a cup of coffee, tipped her a quarter and a great love story began. They travelled with the railroad all over the United States and Quebec, Canada while raising 5 children. Settling in Shepherdsville, Kentucky in the mid 70’s, Rita knew as soon as she crossed the Kentucky state line that Kentucky would be her forever home. She graduated from Jefferson Community College in 1975 and went on to become an Office Manager for Z Medical. She then became a Realtor for Dogwood Homes, a job she loved until she retired. Retirement brought more travel and more time for Rita with family and friends. Rita was an avid U of L basketball fan and loved to cheer on the Cardinals. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” Bradford; son, Timothy Bradford; daughter, Cathy Oberle; granddaughter, Kaylen Bratcher, and brothers, Rex Dramstad and Don Dramstad.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Steve Bradford (Charlotte) and Rick Bradford (Johanne); daughter, Patti Bradford-Roth (Terry); grandchildren, Joshua Bratcher (Ashley), Tyler Bratcher , Kody Bradford (Kelly) and Ryan Oberle; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Mia, Konner, Kameron, Kruz, Kash, Kaci, Bailey, Avery and Jack; siblings, Ellen Dramstad, Dale Dramstad, Max Dramstad, Jim Dramstad, Dick Dramstad, Harold Dramstad and Linda Cavigli, and a host of other family and friends.

Memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 6:00 pm in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with inurnment in Brookland Cemetery on Monday, May 19, 2025, at 10:00 am. Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 1:00 pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
