Robert "Mike" Haarman

Mr. Robert “Mike” Haarman, age 71, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on July 15, 1952, to the late George Haarman and Julia (Sadlo) Haarman. Mike retired after 30 years of service from Sara Lee Bakery, he was a 1970 graduate of Southern High School, a member of St. Lukes Catholic Church, and he was a diehard University of Kentucky fan. Mike also liked to golf, was always a Chevy guy, he enjoyed numerous trips to Churchill Downs, and he could be a little stubborn, and hardheaded at times. But the most important thing was he was a loving husband and provider, a great father, brother and friend, and to his three grandsons who referred to him simply as grandpa and papaw. Mike will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his bonus mother Hazel Haarman.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 46 years Karen Haarman, two sons, Justin Haarman and Derek Haarman, one daughter Nicole Combs (Brandon), three grandsons Lincoln, and Maverick Haarman, and River Combs, six siblings, George Haarman,  (Darlene), Jimmy Haarman (Helen), Pat Neuling (Paul), Barbie Smith, Jeanne Reid ( John), Richard Haarman ( Doris), along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other dear family and friends.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd). Cremation to follow.

A prayer service will be held at 5:30 P.M. in the visitation room. Also the family ask that we share that after the visitation on Saturday evening a gathering will be held at St. Luke's gym with food and drinks, everyone is welcome to attend.
